“So, you managed to shoot yourself in the shoulder while pointing away from you,” First Aid said, not really asking but just to confirm for himself that he’d heard correctly. It was always something on this damn ship, even before the Scavengers ended up here when they jumped universes.

Misfire nodded, sitting upright on the exam table with his legs idly kicking as they dangled off the side of the table.

“Yeah, that’s about the size of it, yeah.” Misfire chuckled as First Aid pulled out a spool of solder wire. “But as least that means I get the handsome CMO’s attention all to myself.”

Primus, why this?

“Misfire,” he said, coincidentally pulsing his soldering gun at the exact same moment in a way that could never and would never, ever be threatening.

“What?” the delinquent asked innocently. “It’s important for one’s mental health to appreciate the nice things in life and look for the bright side, you know.”

A piece of solder wire was clipped and placed against the damaged plating. The injury was small enough that First Aid wouldn’t need a full weld.

“It’s important for my mental health if you would learn what the word ‘richochet’ means.”
