Summary: In which Soundwave decides to stand by Megatron, even knowing they are heading down a dark path.

Megatron returned to their party’s headquarters in the dead of night, covered in fuel. Someone else’s, Soundwave realized as he followed him through the hallways.

“What happened—“

Megatron didn’t say anything, only shaking his head and holding out his arm to request—demand—silence.

Reluctantly, Soundwave obeyed, keeping pace behind his fellow senator.

Soundwave didn’t recall when Megatron had started working with the Rise, but that wasn’t what Termagax would have wanted. That wasn’t what she had left them to do. Megatron had always been cavalier, of course, but there was a difference between that and… compromising their original goals by working with terrorists in secret.

Megatron headed towards his office, where a pair of recharging cots had been set up ages ago for “long nights.” No doubt that was where he was headed now.

Soundwave needed to be there, a supportive presence.

He had once thought that Megatron returning Shockwave from exile had been the tipping point, but now… something else. Something else had changed, something else from which there was no return.

Megatron’s goals had changed somewhere. That much was crystal clear.

“I must rest now.”

Soundwave would stand by, steadfast. No matter where that might lead them.
