And here they were, Megatron thought, a couple of idiots who had no business wearing red badges, though at least Rodimus had the advantage of his presumably not having been taken off of a comrade's body. Though Hot Rod had petitioned to be allowed a non-regulation Decepticon badge before, claiming the purple clashed unforgivably with his paint. He'd even designed a bright red, retroreflective monstrosity and demanded Deadlock weld it on.

Perhaps Megatron shouldn't have been surprised by the red.

Rodimus smirked at him, sitting with a casual, wide-legged posture on the box he'd been given in lieu of an actual seat.

"Is this the part where I shoot you to make us square? That's what you did to me, Megs."

Megatron simply frowned back. There was no need to dignify that with a response.

Undeterred, Rodimus leaned forward, dropping his voice to an uncharacteristic whisper.

"Look, I have to be careful what I say."

"That would be quite the feat for you--"

"For obvious reasons, okay?"

So even after this long, the Autobots didn't fully trust Rodimus.

They probably never would.

If he and Rodimus hadn't parted ways on violent terms, perhaps they could have commiserated about being in the same boat.

Megatron nodded wordlessly.

Rodimus leaned back, presumably accepting their shared understanding, before clapping his hands together.

"Welcome to the Ex-Con Thunderdome!"
